FitFlops

Even though it is December, we have a ton of snow, and it is quite chilly out, some of you will be going on vacations soon and if not, warm weather will be here in a few months.  My husband and I recently went to Italy and my favorite item I brought with me were my FitFlops.  It was unseasonably warm there, 85º and sunny every day.  I did bring some adorable boots but they did not come out much.  We ended up walking 2-5 hours every day and even though we were extremely warm, my feet were always comfortable and I could feel my hamstrings and glutes working.  Not sure how much they really tone your legs, but if you are going to be walking a lot and want to be comfortable and stylish, FitFlops are the way to go.  I have found them to be more reasonable at amazon.com, so purchase them here.  There are a variety of styles and colors now available.  I have the Walkstar Thong in black and the Walkstar III Thong in silver.  I have friends that have the bronze and red ones and they are adorable as well.  The black are more casual looking and the silver ones are more stylish and fancy looking.

Below are the benefits taken from the FitFlop site.  Have fun if you get a pair and feel free to let me know what you think of yours if you have them.

FitFlop. Get a workout while you walk™

FitFlop footwear is biomechanically engineered to help tone and tighten your leg muscles while you walk in them. Studies at the Centre for Human Performance at LSBU show that normal walking in FitFlop sandals(1) can help:

– increase leg, calf and gluteal muscle activity,

– improve your posture,

– mimic the gait of barefoot walking but with more muscle load,

– improve muscle tone.

FitFlop sandals wearers have also reported relief from plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, chronic back pain, sciatica, osteoarthritis, RLS (restless leg syndrome), scoliosis and degenerative disc disease.

Our case studies were performed on FitFlop original sandals over a thirty-six month period by Dr David Cook, Senior Lecturer in Biomechanics, and Darren James at The Centre for Human Performance at London South Bank University (LSBU).

The muscle activation benefits in red are derived from case studies conducted.
The benefits in blue are derived from the hundreds of FitFlop sandals wearers who have reported relief from plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, chronic back pain, sciatica, osteoarthritis, RLS, scoliosis, degenerative disc disease, and a number of other conditions. Read wearers’ reviews.

(1) Biomechanical efficacy and performance testing carried out between December 2006 and March 2007 at Salford University, Manchester and the Centre for Human Performance, LSBU, London, on the original Walkstar sandal.

I am not a fan or believer of the muscle tone that they claim happens when wearing them, but I do know they are super cute and comfortable!

Do you have a pair? What color(s) do you have?
